Pottendorfer Line

Thousands of commuters from Lower Austria will in future travel to Vienna in even greater comfort. The Pottendorfer Line will become a high-speed line with modern railway stations. From 2023, the four-track southern line between Vienna and Wr. Neustadt will become reality.

High-speed line

The Pottendorfer Line between Wiener Neustadt and Wien Meidling will be upgraded by 2023. Trains will then be able to travel at up to 200 kilometres an hour. That will enable a better offer for local and long-distance traffic.

Relief for commuters

Thousands of commuters from the south of Vienna will benefit from the high-performance route. The new Pottendorf Line will secure jobs. Its expansion will also benefit freight transport and relieve the existing southern Line. The project is part of the Southern Line and the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor, an important north-south connection in Europe.
