The energy metering system for the railway of the future
According to Regulation EU1302/2014, every newly authorised traction unit must be equipped with an onboard energy measurement system. The railpower box records precise data in accordance with EN50463 and makes it available for international data exchange. Energy data - both active and reactive energy in consumption and regeneration - and position data are determined via GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems).

Service details
-
ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG offers the railpower box evo for rent as a full-service model. The monthly measurement fee includes the provision of the hardware including SIM card, data transmission and data management. The service includes data storage on a server of ÖBB INFRA (DCS), data validation, data provision for the customer via a web application and the exchange of billing-relevant data (CEBD) with the respective infrastructure network operators.
Even more modern and efficient
-
5G Modem
With its state-of-the-art 5G mobile modem, the railpower box evo is future-proof. To ensure maximum network coverage, the modem also operates on the 2G and 4G network standards.
-
Multiband GNSS Receiver
For highly precise positioning, the railpower box evo uses multiple GNSS systems. To ensure optimal signal availability, it operates on multiple frequency bands of the GNSS systems: GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, Glonass, QZSS, and NavIC. In addition, the receiver supports the processing of RTK signals.
-
Powerful Processor & Large Storage Capacity
Equipped with a powerful processor that significantly exceeds the requirements of a standard energy metering system, additional computing power is available for future demands.
The generously sized, redundantly designed memory offers sufficient reserves, even with a guaranteed data retention period of 365 days for billing-relevant data (CEBD). -
Compatible
The railpower box evo can be seamlessly integrated into the existing mounting points of the railpower box mini 2.0 and railpower box Standard. The existing electrical interfaces remain unchanged.
-
Acceleration Sensor
The railpower box evo features an integrated acceleration sensor to measure the G-forces on the vehicle. This forms the basis for a wide range of new functions, such as the detection of shunting impacts.

International deployment
