Expansion of the northern railway

How Europe is moving closer together - more connections, fewer borders. This is the motto behind the expansion of the Northern Railway in Vienna and Lower Austria.

Marchegger Ostbahn extension

Modernised and barrier-free stations, no waiting times at closed barriers on the entire Lower Austrian section of the line and electrified and therefore environmentally friendly rail transport to Marchegg. All of this will be achieved by the end of 2022 with the expansion of the Marchegger Ostbahn railway.

S-Bahn Vienna main line

We are extending platforms for modern and longer trains. This will create more space and greater comfort for all railway customers.

Making the connecting railway more attractive

In future, a quarter-hourly service across Vienna: the modernisation of the connecting line between Hütteldorf and Meidling means a new high-speed railway quality for Vienna.

Expansion Meidling - Mödling

With up to 400 trains per working day, the section between Vienna Meidling and Mödling is already one of the busiest in the entire ÖBB network. Now it is to be expanded to provide an attractive mobility offer for the growing region in the south of Vienna and an improved public transport service for commuters.

On the site of the former freight station in Vienna Floridsdorf, an environmentally friendly hub for smooth railway operations of the future is being created with the construction of a new maintenance hall and adjoining stabling facility.
