Rooftop Inzersdorf

There is now an almost 10,000 m² photovoltaic system on the roof of the ÖBB freight centre Wien Süd. In 2022, we will continue to rely on green electricity from solar energy and further expand our photovoltaic systems.

Sustainable electricity for 440 train journeys

4,500 solar modules on the roof of the freight centre will produce around 2,200 MWh of green traction current in the future. The solar power will be fed directly from the roof of the freight centre into the overhead line of the Pottendorf Line. This amount of electricity is equivalent to 440 train journeys from Vienna to Salzburg.

This photovoltaic system further supports us in achieving our climate goals and at the same time makes a valuable contribution to the expansion of renewable energies in Austria.
