Bahnhof Sigmundsherberg mit einfahrendem Zug

Mobility hub Sigmundsherberg

As a link between the existing railroad line from Gmünd to Vienna and the new direct connection to Horn, Sigmundsherberg railroad station will continue to fulfill an important function as a mobility hub in the future.

Measures around Sigmundsherberg train station

  • Modernization of the station and upgrading to a modern mobility hub
  • Integration of the new Horn direct connection on the west side of the station
  • New, comfortable and partly covered platforms for passengers and extension of the island platform 2/3
  • Weather-protected and barrier-free passenger platform and elevators make boarding the trains easier
  • Passengers are kept up to date with dynamic passenger information (e.g. info point)
  • Electronic signal box creates the conditions for safe and punctual train operation
  • As part of the commissioning of the Horn direct connection, the points and associated sections of the existing Kamptalbahn will be dismantled.

As part of the modernization offensive, the Franz-Josefs-Bahn, which was opened in 1869/1870, and thus also Sigmundsherberg station, will be given a contemporary appearance in the coming years. The work will take place from February 2024 until probably May 2026.
