Rooftop Inzersdorf

The world's first agri-PV system for 16.7-Hz traction current was completed in August. Following successful trial operation, the innovative system will supply electricity for 4,000 Railjet journeys from Villach to Vienna from 2025. At the same time, it will provide shade for 6,000 chickens and 60 sheep.

More green power from our own resources

The photovoltaic system generates an annual energy yield of over 16 GWh - the equivalent of around 4,000 journeys on the Railjet from Villach to Vienna. Due to its proximity to the railway, the 16.7 Hz traction current produced can be fed directly into the overhead line and thus utilise existing infrastructure. The pile-driven foundations used ensure that the soil remains permeable and the system can be dismantled without leaving any residue at the end of its technical service life. At the same time, chickens and sheep feel very comfortable under the shady modules.
