Track extension between Ybbs and Amstetten

Linz Vbf. West–Linz Signalbrücke

Unrestricted rail travel. This is what the expansion of the last section on the Western Line to the east of Linz will bring. A milestone! Vienna–Wels will then be a continuous four-track line.

The four-track Western Line coming from Vienna still ends in Linz Kleinmünchen. From there to the eastern entrance of Linz Central Station, only two westbound tracks are available at the moment. After the reconstruction of this section, which is correctly called Linz Verschiebebahnhof (Vbf.) West - Linz Signalbrücke, the Western Line between Vienna and Linz Hauptbahnhof will have four tracks throughout and can thus fully develop its benefits. Namely with shorter travel times, punctual trains and more train connections.

Your benefits

    • More commuter trains between Linz and Amstetten
    • Punctual trains, stable timetable
    • Better offer in long-distance traffic
    • More space for freight on the rails

Four tracks for better regional rail services

In the area Linz Vbf. West-Linz Signalbrücke there is a bottleneck. Therefore, we want to create a faster and denser train service for you - more suburban trains between Amstetten or St. Valentin and Linz and more long-distance trains. And, of course, the goal is also a further shift of goods from road to environmentally friendly rail.
