Bleiburg Loop

The Bleiburg loop brings southern Carinthia closer to the high-quality rail network. For travellers, the modernisation of this important connection to the Koralm Railway makes it possible to quickly reach the Klagenfurt and Graz areas.

Fit for the southern route

The municipality of Bleiburg and the market town of Feistritz ob Bleiburg were connected to the southern line via the Bleiburg Loop and thus dock onto one of the most important main transport axes of the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor. Since 2008, stops and stations have been gradually expanded and modernised to make them barrier-free. This has also made the connection to Slovenia more attractive.

With the commissioning of the Koralmbahn in Carinthia at the end of 2023, the regional line also achieved ‘green’ status - all trains run on 100 per cent green traction current. The measures as part of the Koralm Railway project are financed by funds from ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG and the provinces of Carinthia and Styria. The Koralm Railway is also co-financed by the European Union.
