Growth through innovation
Our seven terminals offer high-performance goods handling by connecting road and rail. As hubs for intermodal transport units, the locations Vienna South, Wels, St. Michael, Villach South and Wolfurt link international economic centres and seaports. This promotes sustainability, also because the power supply comes from 100 per cent renewable energy. Our next milestone is also sustainable: the use of ultra-modern gantry cranes. These are no longer controlled directly at the crane, but from a remote control centre in the terminal building.

Your benefits
-
- Higher equipment capacity in future with state-of-the-art technology
- Handling of a higher number of load units and shorter throughput times
- New energy-efficient cranes instead of emission-intensive forklifts
- Old gantry cranes will be replaced by modern, more maintenance and environmentally friendly equipment
- Remote control and automation promote digitalization
- Strengthening environmentally friendly rail as a sustainable mode of transport
Conversion details
In 2026, the terminal in Wolfurt will start a pilot project in which both gantry cranes will be converted to remote control stands. This will be followed by two new gantry cranes in Vienna towards the end of 2026, two more in Wels in the first half of 2027 and an additional gantry crane in Wolfurt. The two existing gantry cranes in Vienna South will also be converted to remote control in 2027.
