Authorisation under Railway Act
Rail vehicles may only be put into operation on the network of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG if they fulfil the legal requirements according to Railway Act as amended. This concerns, among other things
- Authorisation under Railway Act (operating licence or authorisation for placing on the market)
- Projects exempt from approval according to § 36 (4) and § 110 (7) Railway Act
- Check before the first use of an authorised railway vehicle (route compatibility) pursuant to § 112 Railway Act
Network registration
In addition to the authorisation under Railway Act and the check of the route compatibility, rail vehicles also require a network registration before being used on the network of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG. Vehicles with the following interoperability markings are exempt from this requirement:
- Freight wagons: RIV, TEN CW, TEN GE
- Passenger coaches: RIC (with a commissioning authorisation before 19.07.2008)
The Network Access/Technical Network Access Division of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG is responsible for this procedure.
