Network registration of rail vehicles for the ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG network

Rail vehicles used on the network of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG need to be registrated.

This procedure serves to ensure the safe integration of the vehicles in the network of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, taking into account the restrictions and deviations from the vehicle approval and network compatibility test procedure for defining operational conditions.

Only rail vehicles that bear one of the following interoperability markings are exempt from the need of registration: RIC (with an authorisation before 19 July 2008), RIV, TEN GE and TEN CW.

Separate regulations apply to the use of vehicles without the requirement of an authorisation under railway act or in the context of an exceptional consignment.
