Fast, environmentally friendly and safely through the Tyrol by train: The upgrade of the Lower Inn Valley railway between Kundl and Baumkirchen already offers the highest quality in terms of speed and passenger comfort. Forty kilometres of new track have enabled the further upgrade of the rapid transit system in the Lower Inn Valley by relieving the existing route. The approach to the Brenner Base Tunnel fulfils all future requirements of a modern high-speed railway line, thanks to the generous rail capacity on offer.
Connection to the Brenner Base Tunnel
In order to protect local residents and the environment, around 34 kilometres of the new line will be laid in tunnels. Effective anti-vibration measures will be installed in the vicinity of settlements. The connection point at Baumkirchen will link the Kundl–Baumkirchen section directly to the future Brenner Base Tunnel. The Scandinavia-Mediterranean Corridor forms the most important north-south connection in Europe.
