Ollersbach–Kirchstetten–Böheimkirchen

After Kirchstetten Station was extensively modernized and completely renovated to be barrier-free between 2019 and 2021, the final technical upgrades for modern rail operations are now underway. Ollersbach and Böheimkirchen are also being prepared for the future. To further increase safety for all road users, a total of four railroad crossings will be eliminated and replaced with underpasses, overpasses, or pedestrian walkways. After all, the safest railroad crossing is the one that doesn’t exist.

Ollersbach

The Ollersbach train station will receive two new, 220-meter-long side platforms, a modern look, and will become fully accessible. The railroad crossing near the station will be removed and replaced with a pedestrian passage featuring ramps and stairs on both sides. A Park & Ride facility and a Bike & Ride facility will complement the station’s new look. The agricultural railroad crossing at the end of Lustkandlstraße will also be closed. To replace both railroad crossings, a new overpass will be built for State Road L2018 (Bahnstraße). Pedestrians can use the new pedestrian underpass in the station area to cross the tracks.

Kirchstetten

In Kirchstetten, the technical systems will be upgraded so that the control of switches and signals no longer takes place on-site but rather at the operations control center. The aging station building, which is in dire need of renovation, will then no longer be required for rail operations and will be demolished. From today’s perspective, green spaces will be created in the areas freed up as a result. The entrance and exit areas of the Park & Ride facility will be adapted to the new spatial conditions. The existing freight train passing track will be extended to ensure optimal rail operations. In addition, the railroad crossing in Sichelbach will be closed. The footpath along the railroad tracks to Lanzendorf will be modified so that it can serve as an alternative route.

Böheimkirchen

The Böheimkirchen train station is being upgraded to the latest technical standards. Within the station area, plans call for reducing the current four tracks and two siding tracks to two tracks. As a result, none of the existing switch connections will be necessary here. Two new side platforms, each 220 meters long, will be built and will be accessible via the elevators installed in 2021 or via stairs. A modern waiting area and accessible restroom facilities will be created inside the station building. To ensure optimal train operations, a so-called transfer point will be constructed along the section of track running through the Böheimkirchen industrial area, allowing trains to switch tracks. In addition, the railroad crossing with State Road L5093 (Hochfeldstraße) will be removed and replaced with a road underpass that includes a pedestrian and bicycle path.
