he low platforms at Straßwalchen will soon be a thing of the past. With the renovation, the station will gain modern, accessible, and covered platforms that are no longer accessed via the tracks but through a new passenger passageway equipped with elevators. This will not only increase comfort but also greatly enhance safety. The new platforms will also be equipped with weather-protected waiting areas and modern information systems, monitors and loudspeakers.

Your Benefits

  • Safe and accessible entry to the platforms
  • Weather-protected waiting areas right next to the platform
  • Modern passenger information
  • A prerequisite for improved local transit services
  • Freight traffic areas separated from passenger traffic Areas

The renovation will also lay the groundwork for improved local transit services. To ensure smoother operations, freight traffic areas will be physically separated from passenger traffic areas. The existing freight facilities will be redesigned and adapted to current needs. This will make it even easier in the future to load goods—such as lumber—onto the environmentally friendly rail system.

Access to the pedestrian passageway will be from the new forecourt. A new Bike&Ride facility will also be built in this area. In coordination with the public transit authorities and the market town of Straßwalchen, a new bus transfer option may also be created. The current number of Park&Ride spaces will remain unchanged despite the construction of the forecourt.

In addition, the technical framework will be established to enable the station’s switches and signals to be controlled in the future from the Salzburg Operations Control Center. The railroad bridges before and after the station area must be widened due to the station renovation.
