Digital railway operation

The digital change offers the possibility to optimise value-added processes and competitiveness. Current projects are concerned with the exchange of information between infrastructure managers and transport companies, automated operations and network control or efficient energy management.

Adaptive train routing

Precise train routing for punctual and operationally optimised traffic control. Our objective is to achieve this:

  • Automatic conflict detection and conflict resolution in operations management
  • Provision of real-time information on traction units or assistance systems
  • Provision of real-time information in the traffic management systems
  • Dynamic driving recommendation (operational and energy optimisation)

Digitalisation processes

Easy handling for train drivers, reduction of paper printouts, higher operational safety

  • Current departure timetable: directly digital to the RU, taking into account all known restrictions of train operation (speed restrictions, commands, unusual consignments ...)
  • Digital train documents: Transmission of the train documents in electronic form, interoperable beyond the ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG route network, so that no personal handover is necessary

Digitalisation Train Preparation

Modernisation of the planning, dispatching and processing of AVZ services (installations, train preparation and shunting). A uniform interface architecture minimises the currently diverse data exchange. Regardless of whether large shunting nodes or small shunting units: The entire infrastructure (incl. sidings) and its allocation is available for ordering, feasibility checks, planning and dispatching up to production. All shunting employees are electronically integrated into the process.
