In the coming years, around 1.8 billion euros will be invested in the further expansion and modernisation of regional railways. The regional network is to be modernised, expanded and made more environmentally friendly - for example by electrifying lines or making stations and stops more attractive.

Our aim ...

... is to get as many people as possible enthusiastic about the railway. The regional railways can provide valuable feeder services and bring better infrastructure to rural areas. This also benefits the business location. By investing in the regions, we create local added value and safeguard jobs.

Lower Austria

Goodbye traffic jam. My regional railway.
Reshaping Lower Austria: In the coming years, 361 million euros will be invested in the expansion of regional railways in Lower Austria. The regional railways in the Kamp-, Traisen- and Erlauf valleys as well as the Puchberg Railway will be electrified and made barrier-free, stations and stops will be modernised and tracks will be renewed.

Upper Austria

My economic engine. My regional railway.
Reshaping Upper Austria: In the coming years, about 1 billion euros will be invested in the expansion of eight regional railways. The regional railways in the Mattig Valley, in the Alm Valley as well as the Danube Bank and the Innkreis Railway will be electrified. Along all lines the stations and stops will be modernised and the tracks renewed. This will also make the Hausruck-, Mühlkreis-, Salzkammergut- and the Summerauer Railway fit for the future.

Styria

My freedom. My regional railway.
Reshaping Styria: In the coming years, 422 million euros will be invested in regional railway lines in Styria - the Styrian Eastern Railway will be electrified and made barrier-free. Stations and stops along all lines will be modernised and the tracks renewed. This will also make the Salzkammergut- and the Enns Valley Railway fit for the future.

Carinthia

My vision. My regional railway.
Reshaping Carinthia: Another 14 million euros will be invested in the modernisation of the Gail Valley Railway by 2024. The line has already been electrified and made barrier-free for around 47 million euros. The Klagenfurt - Weizelsdorf Line will also be electrified, making it even more climate-friendly. We are still investing approximately a total of 70 million euros in the regional trains of Carinthia.
