Upgrade Nettingsdorf–Rohr-Bad Hall

With the line between Nettingsdorf and Rohr-Bad Hall, the next section for double-track expansion on the Pyhrn Line is entering the planning phase. For passengers, this means more trains, faster connections, and modern infrastructure.

Faster to Your Destination

Step by step, capacity on the Pyhrn Line is being increased. With the expansion of the line between the stations Nettingsdorf and Rohr-Bad Hall, the entire section between Linz Central Station and Rohr-Bad Hall will become double-track. This creates significantly more space for passenger and freight trains, resulting in an improved service.
Through track realignments in certain areas, trains will be able to operate at speeds of up to 160 km/h after the upgrade, compared to 100 km/h previously. This results in a travel time reduction of approximately 3 minutes on the Nettingsdorf – Rohr-Bad Hall section.
This contributes to the long-term goal of reducing the journey time from Linz to Selzthal to 1 hour and 15 minutes — around 30 minutes faster than today.

Your Benefits

    • Increased capacity for local and long-distance passenger services
    • Improved train services through more frequent S-Bahn connections between Linz and Rohr-Bad Hall
    • Travel time reduction of approx. 3 minutes
    • Increased capacity for freight transport

Shifting Freight to Rail

This line plays an important role in international freight transport. This role will be further strengthened by creating additional capacity and by constructing overtaking tracks for freight trains at Rohr-Bad Hall station.
