In the coming years, we will continue to invest in sustainable energy sources and in the maintenance and modernisation of our plants. In this context, the use of renewable energies and innovative supply concepts play a major role.
Traction current and three-phase current?
Traction current has a frequency of 16.7 Hz (Hertz) and is used to supply trains and traction units (locomotives and railcars) as well as other grid-related consumers that are fed via catenaries. This traction current is generated from 100 per cent renewable energy and can be used by all railway undertakings in Austria. It is also used to supply train preheating and point heating systems. Three-phase current is also generated 100 per cent from renewable energy, it has a frequency of 50 Hertz and supplies railway stations and operating facilities.
