The remodelling of Tulln railway station is part of the modernisation initiative in Lower Austria. Work to modernise the station Tulln an der Donau in accordance with the requirements for heritage listed buildings started in January 2017. The new-look station will be unveiled in autumn 2019. However, from the end of 2018, as a passenger you will already have access to two new barrier-free island platforms, the redesigned customer area in the station building, a bakery, a new covered Bike&Ride station with 100 bicycle and 20 two-wheeler parking spaces as well as to a redesigned pedestrian passage. Further follow-on projects, such as the construction of a Park&Ride facility, a Kiss&Ride zone on the station forecourt as well as the upgrade of noise protection are being implemented jointly by the province of Lower Austria, the municipality of Tulln an der Donau and ÖBB.
Local transport hub at the heart of the Franz Josef railway
As a local transport hub, Tulln an der Donau railway station, which handles around 8,000 passengers daily, is an important provincial transport hub, right at the heart of the Franz Josef railway. The remodelling is therefore taking place during ongoing railway operations. Trains services will be maintained at the railway station while work is in progress.
