Noise-differentiated track access charge (noise bonus)

To encourage the retrofitting of freight wagons with low-noise braking technologies, ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, in coordination with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT), now BMK, grants the “Noise Bonus” as of the 2018 network timetable period until 31st December 2021.

Noise bonus for retrofitted freight wagons

The noise bonus is a noise-dependent component of the infrastructure charge in accordance with article 4 of the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/429. The noise bonus for retrofitted freight wagons is € 0,01 per axle per kilometre on ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG’s network.

Prerequisite for receiving the noise bonus is the transmission of all necessary vehicle data to ÖBB-Infrastruktur in advance. In order to facilitate the data transfer, we have provided an online application, our Registration Tool.
