St. Andrä–Aich

The second-longest tunnel system of the Koralm Railway: At around six kilometres, the Granitztal Tunnel on the route between St. Andrä and Aich is an important milestone in this major project.

Tunnel connects Jauntal and Lavanttal

The tunnel chain is being built in three sections: The tunnels “Deutsch Grutschen” and “Langer Berg” were bored through the mountains; the section in the Granitztal was built using the cut and fill method and then soil is used to blend it into the landscape. Like the Koralm Tunnel, this tunnel chain is also being built entirely as a two-tube system.

New railway station for Lavanttal

Another highlight of the route is the new railway station in Lavanttal. It will connect the Koralm Railway to the existing Lavanttal Railway. In future, it will also enable connections to other modes of transport, such as bus, bike or car. This will provide an optimal connection of the region to the high-speed line.
